The 5th Toila Regatta brought young sailors from across Estonia to Toila Harbour

The regatta was also the third stage of the RS Tera Gold Cup. Boats from the RS Tera and RS Aero classes took to the starting line. Competitors were ranked in RS Tera Sport, RS Tera Pro, RS Aero 5, RS Aero 6 and RS Aero 7.
Toila Harbour Filled with Regatta Spirit
On Saturday, the first starts of the regatta were held in Toila Bay. The harbour grounds filled with competitors, coaches and supporters already in the morning, and a true sailing-race atmosphere prevailed in the harbour throughout the day.
The regatta gave young sailors the opportunity to test their sailing skills, gain valuable racing experience and meet sailors from other Estonian clubs. Spectators, meanwhile, could watch colourful sails right from Toila beach and the harbour area.
These competitions show that a harbour is not only berths and other infrastructure, but also a place where young people’s skills, courage, teamwork and maritime culture grow. Today’s young sailors are the future of Estonian sailing, and the experience gained at small regional regattas can be their first step towards bigger goals.
Regional Cooperation Helps Develop Sailing
The 5th Toila Regatta was organised by Toila Jahtklubi. The event was supported by the project “Development of the Ida-Viru region’s waterways network and tourism entrepreneurship”, which aims to strengthen cooperation between the region’s harbours, develop water tourism and make the harbours and waterways of Ida-Viru more visible than before.
