Mia Mirell Mägi – 27th place
On the morning of the first race day, the wind was shifty and rather light, so luck played a role alongside tactical choices. The races were very exciting, and the battle for better positions often lasted until the final metres. After the lunch break, the wind became slightly stronger and more stable, but the excitement continued. By the end of the day, sailors from Estonia’s Optimist elite occupied the top two overall places. The fight for third was fierce: three sailors were tied on points, with the next competitors close behind.
On the second race day, Lake Võrtsjärv treated the sailors to moderate wind. The stronger conditions also suited athletes who normally train and race with the larger RS Tera Pro sail. The races were generally very close. The exception was Christofer Kasin, who showed technically clean and skilful sailing on Sunday and won all five races held that day. Overall, Alexander Hudson Kaerma took second and Elisabeth Veenpere third. Christofer also became Estonian champion in the boys’ category, while Elisabeth won the girls’ title. The regatta had everything a proper sailing competition should offer: close battles, tears, capsizes, protests, smiles and disappointment. Overall, it was a truly fantastic regatta.

Mauri Värimäe – Estonian Championships bronze 🥉
Among the young sailors from Toila Jahtklubi, Mauri Värimäe had the most consistent regatta, finishing fourth overall and third in the boys’ category. Mauri approached sailing more seriously this summer, and the bronze medal at the Estonian Championships was a fitting reward at the end of the season.
Raul Moorast – 5th place
Raul Moorast finished the regatta in fifth place overall. In the final races, Raul had to cope with a broken and jammed block, which made the boat difficult to control and caused capsizes when tacking upwind. Despite this, Raul fought to the end. He had to relinquish last year’s Estonian title this time, but fifth place in such close competition is undoubtedly an excellent result.
Albert Erik Luus – 9th place
Albert Erik Luus finished ninth. He had good speed, but inconsistency left its mark on the result. Albert himself was not entirely satisfied with his performance, but it is precisely regattas like these that provide valuable experience—the fire must temper the steel.
Daniel Oliver Trenholm – 15th place
Daniel Oliver Trenholm finished 15th overall. As Daniel trains and competes daily with an RS Tera Pro sail, he found it a little difficult on the first day to adapt to the feel and handling of the Sport sail. In the stronger wind on the second day, however, he showed that he certainly knows how to sail.
Mia Mirell Mägi – 27th place
Mia Mirell Mägi had a strong first race day and finished 27th overall. Having only recently returned to sailing, Mia also learned a practical lesson on the second day: the drysuit zipper must always be pulled fully closed!
