On 19–20 September, Estonian RS Tera sailors gathered on Lake Tamula in Võru for the 2026 Estonian Championships in the RS Tera Pro class. The event was also the final ranking competition of the RS Tera season and the grand finale of a long summer of racing. Thirty-eight young sailors from sailing clubs across Estonia came to Lake Tamula to compete. A total of eight races were held over the two days.
Tamula once again showed its character as a lake-sailing venue. Moderately strong wind provided good racing conditions, but its constantly shifting direction and strength made the races tactically demanding. Positions could change several times during a single race, and success required more than boat speed: sailors had to read the wind shifts, choose the right side of the course at the right moment and make quick decisions.
This made for very close racing right up to the final races. Saaremaa Sailing Academy sailor Christofer Kasin won the overall regatta and the Estonian title, becoming Estonian champion for the second weekend in a row – a week earlier he had won the RS Tera Sport title on Lake Võrtsjärv. The weekend was also highly successful for Toila Jahtklubi. Albert Erik Luus finished the Estonian Championships in second place, bringing the RS Tera Pro silver medal back to Toila. The Tamula regatta was also a fitting finale to the entire 2026 RS Tera racing season!
Albert Erik Luus – Estonian Championship silver
Toila Jahtklubi was represented by four sailors at the Tamula Estonian Championships. The standout result came from Albert Erik Luus. Albert had competed in the RS Tera Sport class for most of the 2026 season, but at Tamula he had to test himself with a larger sail in the more demanding RS Tera Pro class. Moving up to the higher class did not stop him from immediately competing with Estonia’s best. Across eight races, Albert took second place and the silver medal at the Estonian Championships.
Daniel Oliver Trenholm – 10th place
Daniel was one of Toila Jahtklubi’s leading RS Tera Pro sailors throughout the season and also finished fourth in the 2026 Pro season ranking. The Tamula regatta was a strong finish to his long and consistent season.
Raul Moorast – 17th place
Just a week earlier, he had competed in the Sport-class Estonian Championships on Lake Võrtsjärv, so at Tamula he had to quickly adapt to a larger sail and different boat handling. While technical problems hampered Raul on Lake Võrtsjärv, the strong gusty wind was at times a headache on Tamula.
Mia Mirell Mägi – 26th place
Mia came to Tamula straight from the end of the Sport season and got a valuable opportunity to test herself in the stronger Pro-class competition. For her, the Tamula regatta was an important step forward and good experience for next season.
